The data presented in this article are related to the research article entitled: “Information Strategies for Energy Conservation: A Field Experiment in India” (Victor L. Chen, Magali A. Delmas, Stephen L. Locke, Amarjeet Singh, 2017).The availability of high-resolution electricity data offers benefits to both utilities and consumers to understand the dynamics of energy consumption for example, between billing periods or times of peak demand. However, few public datasets with high-temporal resolution have been available to researchers on electricity use, especially at the appliance-level. In this article, we describe data collected in a residential field experiment for 19 apartments at an Indian faculty housing complex during the period from August 1, 2013 to May 12, 2014. The dataset includes detailed information about electricity consumption. It also includes information on apartment characteristics and hourly weather variation to enable further studies of energy performance. These data can be used by researchers as training datasets to evaluate electricity usage consumption.

The mindset of an engineer is to solve problems by breaking down any issue into smaller, solvable, chunks to find a solution. Engineers are always looking to expand their knowledge, being constantly curious about how things work, where else they’ve seen something used or where could something be applied. The HVACR serie covers the topic of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, refrigerants & properties, complete systems, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, refrigeration componenets, HVACR design, schematics, and pipework.

This set of Presentations comprises an introductory course in Petroleum Geomechanics (Petroleum Rock Mechanics). The presentations start by introducing the basics of rock behaviour and design, initial conditions such as stress and temperature, and then move on to applications in areas such as borehole stability and stress changes in reservoirs. An attempt has been made to cover all of the major issues in Petroleum Geomechanics, but the materials also reflect the interests of the author to some degree.
There are approximately 35-50 hours of lecture material, depending how it is presented, and whether there are problems presented and worked out in class by participants. The materials are suitable for 4th-year students in Petroleum Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, although the materials could be used as the basis of a late 3rd-year course providing the students have had exposure to stress and strain in earth materials such as a course in Structural and Petroleum Geology, or an introductory course in Soil Mechanics.
As a professional short course, the materials can be presented in 35 hours, or selected modules can be added or left aside. As a courtesy, if you use these materials and develop modules of your own, develop clear problems sets, or improve these materials, please send a copy to mauriced@uwaterloo.ca, as I am always looking for better ways to present ideas and concepts.

Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) is a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model of fire-driven fluid flow. The software solves numerically a form of the Navier-Stokes equations appropriate for low-speed, thermally-driven flow, with an emphasis on smoke and heat transport from fires. Smokeview (SMV) is a visualization program that is used to display the output of FDS and CFAST simulations.

GeoInfo Map is a geospatial information service provided by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government to the general public, dedicated to facilitate the searching and understanding of geographical locations, the built and natural environments, and public facilities in Hong Kong. In GeoInfo Map, base map details and building information as well as the photo maps are provided by the Lands Department. Departmental and public facilities information is contributed by relevant Government departments while infrastructure and hosting of this website is provided by the Office of Government Chief Information Officer. Geospatial information underpins our daily activities. To cater public’s needs for convenient access to official digital map and geospatial information, LandsD developed this GeoInfo Map service for use by members of the general public. GeoInfo Map served as a common platform to foster sharing of geospatial information by enabling easy public access to the latest facility information released by government departments. Since the launch of the GeoInfo Map in May 2010, the LandsD has been working closely with 29 government departments for the delivery of up-to-date maps and geospatial information service for the public. Over the years, the content of the GeoInfo Map has enriched significantly from provision of 120 types of public facility geospatial information to 270. In order to enhance service quality, the Lands Department has recently conducted a large scale revamping exercise to improve the GeoInfo Map service. To facilitate web surfing with tablet computers and smartphones, responsive web design has been introduced in the revamped website which will detect and adapt to the device in use to deliver a smoother user experience. Apart from enhancing map browsing experience and performance, the new map interface enables users to search for various types of real-time information including weather, traffic, air and beach water quality. GeoInfo Map provides a powerful geographic search engine. It allows users to find any locations in Hong Kong by inputting address information, building names, community and public facility names, place names, road names, lot information, lamp post numbers, and GPS coordinates, etc. Users can also search for public facilities by different categories such as "Sports and Recreation", "Health", etc. GeoInfo Map also provides useful map tools such as drawing tools, share map tools, and drawing tools, etc. Using GeoInfo Map, users can use the navigation tool bar provided to view maps with different scales and level of details, and pan and zoom to any locations in Hong Kong. Apart from the topographic maps, users can have aerial views over the locations of Hong Kong with the Ortho Map function. LandsD is delighted to offer GeoInfo Map to the public. With integrated and comprehensive geospatial information, we hope the GeoInfo Map provides convenience and support to the general public. We would continuously improve the GeoInfo Map service quality. More geospatial information will be incorporated into GeoInfo Map in the future.
