The Casino Nobile, which is already a “museum” from an architectural and decorative standpoint, contains a small but excellent museum devoted to pieces of statuary from the Torlonia collection found in the Villa (much of the collection still belongs to the family and is conserved in the palace in Via della Lungara) and several chance finds that have enabled a further strand of the Villa’s history to be added to the collection. The pieces displayed give a close idea of how the Torlonia family, in particular Giovanni (1756–1829) and his son Alessandro (1800–80) were for almost a century leading figures in the field of art collecting, a practice that had originated in at least the fifteenth century when distinguished families in Rome began to adorn their residences with fine works of art and furnishings. The works exhibited are not all from the same provenance: they were in part produced by Bartolomeo Cavaceppi, a noted eighteenth-century sculptor, restorer and antiques dealer, following Giovanni Torlonia’s purchase in 1800 of all the works in Cavaceppi’s studio; others come from finds on the properties belonging to the family; and yet others are pieces of the Villa’s furniture that managed to survive various spoliations. This nucleus of works was added to following a sensational discovery of several artworks in the basement of the Theatre in 1997. These were originally displayed in the principal palace but were removed from there at an unknown time and for an unknown reason. The discovery was of three large plaster reliefs by Antonio Canova, a woman’s head in the style of Michelangelo, several pieces of furniture from the Villa’s demolished chapel, and a splendid marble pediment taken from the tomb of Claudia Semne on Via Appia Antica. The final section of the museum is the reconstructed Bedchamber of Giovanni Torlonia (1872–1938), with the pieces of furniture that were used by Benito Mussolini during the period he resided in the Villa (1925–43).

There's now so many that we realized we needed to filter this down even further. So what follows is our list of the very best 100 - hand-picked for their quality, insight and potential to inspire positive change. All of the films have been selected because they are either free to watch online, or can be rented online. C is a general-purpose, imperative computer programming language, supporting structured programming, lexical variable scope and recursion, while a static type system prevents many unintended operations. C was originally developed by Dennis Ritchie between 1969 and 1973 at Bell Labs, and used to re-implement the Unix operating system. It has since become one of the most widely used programming languages of all time, with C compilers from various vendors available for the majority of existing computer architectures and operating systems. The best way we learn anything is by practice and exercise questions. We have started this section for those (beginner to intermediate) who are familiar with C programming. Hope, these exercises help you to improve your C programming coding skills. Currently, following sections are available, we are working hard to add more exercises.

This database is constructed on the basis of two earlier databases developed by the Research Centre for the Humanities Computing (formerly the Humanities Computing Programme). Since the appearance of the Chinese Syllabary Pronounced according to the Dialect of Canton in 1996 and the Chinese Talking Syllabary of the Cantonese Dialect: An Electronic Repository in 1998, we have been receiving notes of gratitude from users from all over the Internet. Out of the many suggestions they made, the crucial one was the expansion of our databases from a pure syllabary structure into one which covers semantic information of the characters. In response to this suggestion of our users, in particular their concern for the semantic disambiguation of Chinese polyphonic characters, a database carrying the current title was planned. Being functionally versatile and user-friendly like its two predecessors, the current new database excels further in the following respects: This fully revised and expanded database covering the complete Big5 Chinese character set is now the most comprehensive syllabary of the Cantonese dialect on the Internet. It covers in the first place the syllabric data of four major works, namely, 1) S. L. Wong's A Chinese Syllabary Pronounced according to the Dialect of Canton, 2) Li Chomin's Lishi Zhongwen Zidian, 3) Zhou Wuji and Rao Bingcai's Guangzhou Hua Biaozunyin Zihui and 4) Richard Ho and Chu Kwok-fan's Yuehyin Zhengdu Zihui. To make up what is still missing, linguistic information of nine other major works are consulted. To take into account the linguistic reality of the Hong Kong society, vernacular pronunciation data provided by the Linguistic Society of Hong Kong are also included. Besides pronunciations, typical word-forms or vocabularies are provided for every character in this database. These word-forms are grouped with respect to the proper pronunciation(s) of the respective head characters so that users can disambiguate polyphonic characters that are phonologically ambiguous. In cases where common vocabularies are not readily available, brief remarks or explanations will be given. It supports up to seven transciption (romanization) schemes of the Cantonese dialect. Users can switch from one scheme to the other wherever necessary. When a certain head character is being featured, basic information such as pronunciation(s), homophones, vocabularies etc. are tabulated. In addition to these, further lexical information related to that particular character will also be provided for easy reference, as, for instances, internal codes (Big5 and Unicode), Cangjie input code, radical belonging , number of strokes, basic English translation, pagination of important references and hyperlinks pointing to various online resources. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Ms. Ginny Chan, former instructor of Yale-China Chinese Language Center, CUHK, for her courtesy in demonstrating 1,900 unique Cantonese pronunciations on a volunteer basis.

The Academic Phrasebank is a general resource for academic writers. It aims to provide you with examples of some of the phraseological ‘nuts and bolts’ of writing organised according to the main sections of a research paper or dissertation (see the top menu ). Other phrases are listed under the more general communicative functions of academic writing (see the menu on the left). The resource should be particularly useful for writers who need to report their research work. The phrases, and the headings under which they are listed, can be used simply to assist you in thinking about the content and organisation of your own writing, or the phrases can be incorporated into your writing where this is appropriate. In most cases, a certain amount of creativity and adaptation will be necessary when a phrase is used. The items in the Academic Phrasebank are mostly content neutral and generic in nature; in using them, therefore, you are not stealing other people’s ideas and this does not constitute plagiarism. For some of the entries, specific content words have been included for illustrative purposes, and these should be substituted when the phrases are used. The resource was designed primarily for academic and scientific writers who are non-native speakers of English. However, native speaker writers may still find much of the material helpful. In fact, recent data suggest that the majority of users are native speakers of English.

The website is written by Allen D. Elster. In 1994 y Allen published the first edition of Questions and Answers in Magnetic Resonance Imaging, a collection of notes on MR physics he had distributed to residents and fellows during viewbox teaching over the years. Jonathan Burdette helped him update this material and the second edition appeared in 2001. These books were big hits in the radiology community, and he still take pride how many people tell me they learned most of what they know about MR physics from them. There is no charge for using this site; it is his gift back to the MRI community.

Behance, part of the Adobe family, is the leading online platform to showcase & discover creative work. Creative people around the world join Behance, entering a community made with their original work and creative process in mind. Here, users showcase their work in the form of profiles comprised of Projects. A Project is a grouping of images, videos, and other digital content with a related theme or process. Every project has a unique URL that can be shared across the web, as well as a View and Appreciation counter so you can track how many people have seen your project and given you kudos on a job well done. Here is an example of a Project created by the Behance Design Team. Behance members can Follow your profile and you can, in turn, follow other users. When you Follow someone, their updates (projects they’ve uploaded, Appreciated, or Added to a Moodboard) appear in your For You feed. The For You feed is the home screen for signed-in Behance creatives. As you follow more profiles, you'll start to see more projects appear in your feed. To view a Project that appears in your For You feed, simply click the Project Cover and the full contents of the project will open for you to view. In your feed, you may start to notice projects that have a small badge in the corner of the Project Cover. Those projects have been Featured. Our team of curators search for the best creative work on Behance and showcases them using Curated Galleries

This website explain the three-phase fault. The Three-Phase Fault block implements a three-phase circuit breaker where the opening and closing times can be controlled either from an external Simulink® signal (external control mode), or from an internal control timer (internal control mode). The Three-Phase Fault block uses three Breaker blocks that can be individually switched on and off to program phase-to-phase faults, phase-to-ground faults, or a combination of phase-to-phase and ground faults. The arc extinction process of the Three-Phase Fault block is the same as for the Breaker block.

For most people, an anatomy atlas is a large book with illustrations of the different regions and systems of the body. Each region is labeled with the names of the organs and other anatomic structures that compose it. A textual description often describes the structures, their interrelationship, and their function. Taken together, the collection of information that makes up an atlas paints a comprehensive view of the body and how it works. For our purposes, we generalize the definition of anatomy atlases to include any annotated collection of spatially organized medical information. This definition includes digital atlases as well as printed books. This broader view also covers specialized atlases such as those used in radiology, pathology, and microscopy.

Since 1979, we have been campaigning against gobbledygook, jargon and misleading public information. We have helped many government departments and other official organisations with their documents, reports and publications. We believe that everyone should have access to clear and concise information. The campaign officially began after founder, Chrissie Maher OBE, publicly shredded hundreds of official documents in Parliament Square, London. Entirely independent, we fund our work through our commercial services, which include editing and training. We have worked with thousands of organisations including many UK government departments, public authorities and international banks, helping them make sure their public information is as clear as possible. Our Crystal Mark now appears on more than 23,000 documents worldwide. Launched in 1990, and the first mark of its kind, the Crystal Mark is used by over 1600 organisations who want to provide the clearest possible information.

Present value (PV) is the current value of a future sum of money or stream of cash flows given a specified rate of return. Future cash flows are discounted at the discount rate, and the higher the discount rate, the lower the present value of the future cash flows. Determining the appropriate discount rate is the key to properly valuing future cash flows, whether they be earnings or debt obligations. In this page, you will learn about: (1) Present value states that an amount of money today is worth more than the same amount in the future. (2) In other words, present value shows that money received in the future is not worth as much as an equal amount received today. (3) Unspent money today could lose value in the future by an implied annual rate due to inflation or the rate of return if the money was invested. (4) Calculating present value involves assuming that a rate of return could be earned on the funds over the period.

This set of Presentations comprises an introductory course in Petroleum Geomechanics (Petroleum Rock Mechanics). The presentations start by introducing the basics of rock behaviour and design, initial conditions such as stress and temperature, and then move on to applications in areas such as borehole stability and stress changes in reservoirs. An attempt has been made to cover all of the major issues in Petroleum Geomechanics, but the materials also reflect the interests of the author to some degree.
There are approximately 35-50 hours of lecture material, depending how it is presented, and whether there are problems presented and worked out in class by participants. The materials are suitable for 4th-year students in Petroleum Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, although the materials could be used as the basis of a late 3rd-year course providing the students have had exposure to stress and strain in earth materials such as a course in Structural and Petroleum Geology, or an introductory course in Soil Mechanics.
As a professional short course, the materials can be presented in 35 hours, or selected modules can be added or left aside. As a courtesy, if you use these materials and develop modules of your own, develop clear problems sets, or improve these materials, please send a copy to mauriced@uwaterloo.ca, as I am always looking for better ways to present ideas and concepts.
