In this workshop, we will introduce a novel active-learning rewards-based (ALRB) approach supported by a prototype system to motivate students to be more active learners. We will describe how rubrics are assigned to different active learning pedagogies to reward students for their active engagement. The ALRB approach will be demonstrated with a supporting system and rewards will be given to the audience to show how instructors can use the ALRB approach in any face-to-face, hybrid or purely virtual environment.

Showcase One proudly presents two departmental interventions funded by PolyU’s Quality Incentive Scheme Stage 1, which promotes eLearning, Teaching and Assessment (eLTA) by grooming and rewarding outstanding performance:
APSS on the Move: Incubation of L&T Strategies before, during and beyond the Pandemic Era.
AAE: Using an online platform, Github, to shape and build the students' problem-solving and learning-to-learn abilities through a flip-class project teaching approach.

PolyU has announced the return of F2F learning and teaching (L&T) mode in the coming semester. Join colleagues from PolyU and CUHK as we take a collaborative look at Hybrid Teaching & Learning. In the workshop we will consider the basics of hybrid pedagogy and look at steps taken by both universities to enable their teaching and learning spaces to deliver hybrid education. We will look at how to achieve interactions in a hybrid classroom and hear from frontline teachers in both institutions as they share their experiences of teaching in hybrid mode.
