HK RE Net

The Hong Kong Renewable Energy Information Portal (HKRENet) is a resource hub operated by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). Designed to support Hong Kong’s climate action targets and decarbonization strategies, HKRENet provides technical guidance, resource mapping, and case studies on renewable energy technologies suitable for dense urban environments. The portal offers extensive technical specifications and implementation frameworks for solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, solar water heating, wind energy, energy-from-waste, and ground-source heat pump systems. Key features include interactive solar potential calculators, Feed-in Tariff (FiT) scheme guidelines, installation safety standards, grid connection procedures, and green building integration case studies across public and private sectors in Hong Kong. Serving as a key open educational resource, HKRENet provides essential localized data and technical reference materials for undergraduate and postgraduate students, building services engineers, architectural planners, energy managers, and sustainability policy researchers in renewable energy systems, urban sustainability, and green building technology.
