FAO Open Knowledge Repository
The FAO Open Knowledge Repository (FAO OKR) is the official, institutional digital repository of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Serving as a central gateway to FAO’s vast intellectual output, the platform provides unrestricted access to tens of thousands of peer-reviewed books, technical reports, policy briefs, statistical yearbooks, working papers, and flagship publications—such as The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World (SOFI) and The State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture (SOFIA). The repository covers critical interdisciplinary domains, including sustainable agriculture, food security, rural development, forestry, climate change adaptation, land and water management, agricultural economics, and natural resource governance. Built on open repository standards (DSpace-based architecture), the FAO OKR supports interoperable metadata harvesting and full-text searching across multilingual publication collections. As a foundational open educational resource, this repository delivers primary empirical datasets, policy analysis, technical manuals, and international development frameworks for undergraduate and postgraduate students, agricultural researchers, economists, environmental scientists, and international development practitioners studying food systems, agricultural policy, global food security, and sustainable development goals (SDGs).`
