Welcome to the exciting world of technical theatre. Studying this topic can lead to many different careers in several different sectors of the economy. The general skills needed for any of the careers or sectors have many things in common. Workers need to be dead-line oriented, as most productions have firm timelines that cannot be altered. Critical thinking and analysis are much needed skills. Almost every project in the field is unique and technicians and designers alike must discover the best way of reaching a project’s goal. Creative problem solving is trait successful practitioners have in common. With every project being unique, there are no guaranteed solutions to the problems that are presented. Technicians draw on their vast experience of what worked in the past that can be adapted to be a solution to the current problems. Clear communication and collaboration round out the necessary skills. No technical theatre project is ever handled by one person on their own. Collaboration with many people is the norm, and successful collaboration requires clear written and verbal communication skills.

In past few years, hybrid/online teaching has been used during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this workshop, a 4C model: Content, Collaboration, Community and Communication is presented for hybrid/online teaching. To support the 4C model, various teaching/learning tools and resources can be used such as: presentation slides with annotations, chatbox communication, open educational resources, multiple choice exercises, group exercises, class surveys etc. Good practice and useful experience (e.g., how to handle the aforementioned tools smoothly in a class) will be shared through the workshop.

How can we strengthen sustainability? By empowering individuals and communities to transform and balance dynamic natural resources, economic prosperity, and healthy populations. In this course, you’ll explore productive and disruptive social, ecological, and economic intersections – the “triple bottom line.” You’ll investigate a spectrum of global, national, regional, municipal and personal relationships that are increasing resiliency. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to effectively locate your interests, and to leverage optimistic change within emerging 21st century urban environments. This course will describe fundamental paradigm shifts that are shaping sustainability. These include connectivity, diversity, citizen engagement, collaboration source tracing, mapping, transportation, and integrative, regenerative design. We will take examples from cities around the globe; making particular use of the complex evolution of site-specific conditions within the Connecticut River watershed. In addition we will present tools and strategies that can be utilized by individuals, communities, and corporations to orchestrate effective and collective change. Each week, lessons will highlight the significance of clean water as a key indication of ecosystem, community and human health. Learners will be asked to investigate and share information about their local environment. Finally, we will note the impact of such disruptive forces as industrial pollution, changing governance, privatization of public services, mining of natural resources, public awareness, and climate change. A fundamental course goal will be to characterize indicators of economic prosperity and happiness that relate to environmental sustainability – and the capacity of individuals to create change.

The promotion of Sichuan Chengdu Qingxia Mountain Residence focused on digital marketing and utilized the 4I theory - Interesting, Interests, Interaction, and Individuality. Located in the international tourism resort of Qingcheng Mountain, the residence offered unique scenery and cultural attractions. The marketing strategy showcased the peculiar design of the products and aimed to spur the interest of potential customers through a combination of scenery, customers, and products. Visitors were encouraged to share their experiences on platforms like TikTok, Weibo, and Little Red Book, and were provided with incentives to increase visibility. Collaborations with key opinion leaders (KOLs) enriched the content. The outcomes included increased popularity, higher sales, and repeat customers. Challenges included maintaining the momentum of digital marketing and sustaining customer interest.
