OpenSees for Fire

The OpenSees development for modelling 'structures in fire' was first started at University of Edinburgh in 2009. A number of students and researchers worked on this long-term project with their own contributions which enable OpenSees to perform analyses for 'structure in fire' including heat transfer ,thermo-mechanical analyses, and integrated analyses.

Hong Kong is the mother of tall buildings in the world. Despite Hong Kong's supremacy in tall buildings, they are always prone to fire accidents which makes it complicated to save lives. OpenSEES for fire is an open source tool to estimate the fire performance of a building to take necessary steps to retrofit for structural performance and avoid it from collapse thereby, lives can be saved.
