Roadmap for Building Information Modelling Strategic Implementation in Hong Kong's Construction Industry
Published by the Construction Industry Council (CIC) in September 2014, this foundational reference material establishes the strategic roadmap and phased implementation framework for Building Information Modelling (BIM) across Hong Kong's architecture, engineering, construction, and operation (AECO) sectors. Formulated by the Working Group on Roadmap for BIM Implementation under the Committee on Environment, Innovation and Technology, the publication outlines: (1) Strategic objectives for driving digital transformation and technology adoption across public and private capital works; (2) Industry-wide capacity building, training standards, and competency requirements for BIM personnel (managers and coordinators); (3) Standardized modeling protocols, data interoperability, and common data environment (CDE) workflows; and (4) Policy recommendations that paved the way for the HKSAR Government's mandate requiring BIM adoption in all major government projects. It is an indispensable strategic reference for civil and structural engineers, architectural designers, project managers, BIM consultants, construction executives, and university students studying construction digitalisation, digital engineering, and project management in Hong Kong.
