AMBOSS was founded by doctors, for doctors, in 2012. A group of young residents became frustrated by the limitations of the medical education system: the multitude of disconnected resources available led to more time spent researching topics than mastering them. They took matters into their own hands and together completely reshaped the path to becoming a physician. They created AMBOSS, a digital medical resource that could single-handedly support students in the classroom as well as later on as a clinical companion.

Agent based modeling focuses on the individual active components of a system. This is in contrast to both the more abstract system dynamics approach, and the process-focused discrete event method. With agent based modeling, active entities, known as agents, must be identified and their behavior defined. They may be people, households, vehicles, equipment, products, or companies, whatever is relevant to the system. Connections between them are established, environmental variables set, and simulations run. The global dynamics of the system then emerge from the interactions of the many individual behaviors. AnyLogic combines professional discrete event, system dynamics, and agent based modeling in one platform for efficient, no compromise results. In our white paper, Multimethod Simulation Modeling for Business Applications, we investigate these three main simulation modeling approaches and construct a multimethod model example to illustrate the advantages of multimethod simulation modeling. Read the white paper and see why hybrid models are always a better choice!

This is a showcase event on “Hybrid Teaching” (HT). Opening with a summary on the good practices, challenges and issues raised by PolyU colleagues on HT, Professor Gilly Salmon will then discuss opportunities and practice for good HT. She will describe research-based models and processes that are easily adopted by staff and lead to greater engagement and achievement for students. She will also offer evidence-based concepts that have stood the test of time but are suitable for 2021 and beyond: collaborative design, equivalence, engagement and scaffolding through the 5-stage model and e-tivities. These will be followed by Q&A and an open discussion on what PolyU can do to improve in HT.

Constant Air Volume System or CAV System is an all-air type HVAC system that uses constant air volume while the temperature of the supplied air is varied to achieve the desired heating or cooling. We discussed the single duct single-zone system, single duct multizone system with reheat coiled, and dual duct system. In CAV System Air handling unit fans are running at a constant speed resulting in a lot of energy consumption for supplying the air. In the Multizone reheat system, a lot of energy is consumed in heating the already cold air, so the CAV system is not energy efficient. That's CAV system is strictly restricted by many energy codes.

The design guide is written with practicing structural engineers in mind. It emphasises professional applications, placing great emphasis on ready-to-use materials. It contains formulas and tables that give immediate solutions to common questions and problems arising from practical work related to composite columns. The design guide also provides good detailing practices for typical joints between steelconcrete composite columns and other structural components. Guideline is provided to select matching concrete and steel grades for the design of high strength composite columns. Special considerations for fire resistance design, fabrication of high tensile steel sections, and preparation of high strength concrete are emphasized. This design guide will endow structural engineers with the confidence to use high strength materials in a safe and economic manner to design and construct high rise buildings.

Fuzzy Logic Toolbox™ provides MATLAB® functions, apps, and a Simulink® block for analyzing, designing, and simulating systems based on fuzzy logic. The product guides you through the steps of designing fuzzy inference systems. Functions are provided for many common methods, including fuzzy clustering and adaptive neurofuzzy learning. The toolbox lets you model complex system behaviors using simple logic rules, and then implement these rules in a fuzzy inference system. You can use it as a stand-alone fuzzy inference engine. Alternatively, you can use fuzzy inference blocks in Simulink and simulate the fuzzy systems within a comprehensive model of the entire dynamic system.

Picture this: You step into an elevator, and right after you steps in a well-dressed woman. She looks familiar, and as you squint your eyes you realize she is the CEO of the company where you’ve always wanted to work, a woman who you once met earlier in your career. She presses the button for floor 43. Can you tell her who you are, what your goals are, and leave a memorable impression before the elevator stops? The answer, of course, is yes – if you have a good elevator pitch!
This guide will give you the tools to craft a winning elevator pitch. It will take you through the elements of an elevator pitch, how to draft and practice the pitch, and how to deliver it successfully to anyone, whether it’s the CEO in the elevator or a person you bump into at a networking event.

Networking is, as its name implies, work. And like any job, networking takes skills.
That's right: there’s more to the networking hustle than showing up at an event and hitting the bar. (It takes more than inviting someone to meet for a cup of coffee, too.) Networking has its own skillset, one that you have to work to hone. But luckily, you can get good at networking. Here's a guide on how to network—from how to view this often-dreaded activity to what to say and how to keep the conversation going.
